A month after the launch of the Deadpool movie which starred Ryan Reynolds as the foul-mouthed, extremely violent anti-superhero Deadpool, the Canadian actor has just release a new funny Deadpool trailer dubbed Monthiversary, to celebrate the film’s anniversary.
The Monthiversary trailer is the latest from several Deadpool trailer that have been released as part of the marketing strategy of Deadpool and 20th Century Fox. The movie garnered more than $680 million globally and was only toppled from top spot in the box office recently by Zootopia. Deadpool may have been wandering around the world for a month already but Ryan Reynolds and the people behind the blockbuster film would not stop propelling Deadpool.
Well, we cannot blame them! Deadpool was after all a labor of love for Reynolds, director Tim Miller as well as the writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.
The new Deadpool trailer looked coarse and gritty and appears to have been taken from several damaged VHS tapes and described as "guaranteed to make your whole family pregnant." Like the previous trailers released for the Merc with the Mouth, the Monthiversary trailer showed the sardonic sense of humor in which Deadpool is known for.
The unrelenting marketing campaign done prior to the release of the movie was very creative. By targeting the Deadpool comic book enthusiasts and the fans who were disappointed by the character’s Barakapool version in the movie "Wolverine: Origins", the people behind the promotions were able to attract and connect with them using funny Deadpool trailer, Instagram posts and billboards. They even gathered clips of Vanessa and Wade and turned them into a Nicholas Sparks-inspired film below.
Deadpool is a well-written, hilarious action movie with a wonderful love story that is unconventional and not overly mushy. It currently ranks second to The Matrix: Reloaded as the top grossing film worldwide and #3 highest-earning R rate film of all time in the US after Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ and Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper.
Due to Deadpool’s phenomenal success, the sequel has been scheduled for a 2017 release. And based on the Deadpool trailer Monthiversary, there will be more surprises in store for the fans!
