It’s been three years since Square Enix announced "Kingdom of Hearts 3" in 2013 E3. Rumors and wild speculations about the upcoming game has been emerging in the Internet – boosting the hype for Kingdom Hearts 3 and making it one of the most-awaited games of the year. Although KH3 was reported to might be moved to 2017, fans are still hoping that Square Enix will be able to finish game development and have the launch before the year ends.
However, no Kingdom Hearts 3 release date has been announced as of today.
Recent reports for Kingdom Hearts 3 hint the return of Cloud Strife for the most anticipated sequel to Kingdom Hearts franchise. KH3 could also include more characters from Disney worlds, such as Big Hero 6, Hercules, and Tangled.
But fans are speculating that characters from Disney’s Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph and The Jungle Book as well as Pixar’s Monsters Inc., and Wall-E might also be added to the next installment.
Early this year, Kingdom Hearts 3 Japanese director Tetsuya Nomura, teased fans about the multiple player feature of the game wherein fans will be able to control three characters at the same time. But Nomura did not go into specifics as to the names of the playable characters.
Kingdom Hearts 2 has already introduced two playable characters, the protagonists Sora and his Nobody Roxas. More Keyblade users will also be featured in the much-awaited Kingdom Hearts 3.
It was also reported that there might be a possible delay for the development of the game and having to work with Disney is thought to be the reason. Nomura wanted to apply the 2D artwork style of Disney in the next installment of the Kingdom Hearts series and the “Kingdom Shader” - an application of 2D animation on 3D video game graphics - was first revealed at an E3 trailer.
Meanwhile, Final Fantasy characters might get involved with KH3 as Square Enix owns both of the popular series. Also, voice actor Steve Burton who gives voice to Final Fantasy VII character Cloud, confirmed his involvement in the next Kingdom Hearts game when he replied to a fan’s question in Twitter, wrote KHInsider.
Burton’s statement was done after fellow voice actors Bill Farmer (Goofy) and Jim Cummings (Pete, Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger too) said that they have worked previously on KH3 too.
Guess we'll only know what's true or not when Kingdom Hearts 3 finally arrives!
