Last night’s Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 ended on a happy note! Well, at least for most of the characters on ABC’s hit TV series!
TV Line reported that Jo got drunk in a bar with Stephanie after Alex stormed out of their place telling her that he’s done with games. Andrew took her home and he learned the reason why Jo cannot marry Alex: she’s already married! She also confessed that her abusive husband would find her if she will try to divorce him, and she’s using a false name to hide from him. While tucking her in bed, Andrew accidentally fell on top of Jo who was only wearing her underwear. Then Alex walked in who came to the wrong conclusion and proceeded to punch Andrew to bits.
Owen’s “best man” April asked Ben to give her a ride back to Meredith’s place to get the wedding bands. Unfortunately she went on labor and asked Ben to deliver the baby on Meredith’s kitchen table. Ben found out that the baby was breech and need to do an emergency C-section. He called Grey Sloan and connected with Jackson, Arizona, and Bailey- informing the latter that he had to do it. Ben sliced open April’s belly without the aid of anesthesia. April and her newborn baby were then taken to the hospital, and were pronounced to be in good condition.
After some second thoughts about getting married and the absence of her family, Amelia decided to push through with the wedding, with Meredith and Maggie supporting her. Since April was in the hospital, Nathan delivered the rings to Owen and was invited to stay for the ceremony. While the wedding was in progress, Nathan smiled at Meredith but Maggie mistakenly thought that it was for her. She whispered to Meredith “I really like him. I think he likes me.”
Will there be a love triangle between Meredith, Nathan, and Maggie in Season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy?
Meanwhile, Arizona took pity on ex-wife Callie and delivered Sofia on her doorstep together with two plane tickets to New York to visit Penny. She told Callie to return their daughter next weekend and offered a new custody arrangement that will have Sophia spend time with Callie after “all summer and every other school year.”
But then, Callie going to New York is how Sara Ramirez will be excluded in Season 13. The actress’ contract ends this month.
Entertainment Weekly wrote that while her co-stars are renegotiating their contracts for the next season, she’s “taking some welcome time off.”
“I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey’s Anatomy and ABC, but for now I’m taking some welcome time off,” said Ramirez in a statement. “Shonda’s been so incredible to work for, and we will definitely continue our conversations! I send my love to Ellen, the rest of the cast and crew, and I look forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family!”
Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes also published a goodbye note to Ramirez wishing her “the best on her well-deserved time off.”
This news would surely break the Calzona fans’ hearts!
Meanwhile, Camilla Luddington talks about Jo’s revelation that she’s already married with THR. When asked why would Jo keep her marriage a secret and never file for divorce, Luddington replied:
“She's drunk but from what she said, her husband is super charismatic and everyone loved him. At the same time, he was extremely dangerous. She thinks if she files, he will be able to find her and she has gone almost undercover; she ran from him and, in her mind, disappeared from him. Jo thinks that will unearth everything and he'll find her. She's protecting herself and Alex at the same time because her husband is dangerous and if he found out Jo was with Alex, that could be a bad thing for Alex, too.”
On whether Jo and Alex broke up after that incident with Andrew, Luddington gave her opinion:
“My impression is that if I were Alex, I'd want to be done. For Alex, she said no and she can't give him a good enough reason and then he thinks maybe she's cheating. So yes, I'd be done if I were Alex.”
