The Pokemon Company has released a new trailer for the impending Pokemon The Movie: Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna. It reveals more action than the first two footages made public on December 2015 and March this year as well as images of the first Gen 7 Pokemon.
iDigitaltimes reported that Japanese variety show Oha Suta aired the new trailer before it was officially released on YouTube by The Pokemon Company.
Based on the new trailer, the untrusting Volcanion attempts to save Magearna from the clutches of the main villain. Volcanion, the last of the Gen 6 Pokemon to be introduced formally has been wary of humans, but will be tied unwillingly with Ash all through the adventure in the Pokemon The Movie: Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna.
In the latest footage, Gen 6 Legendary Zygarde is shown to be included in the movie. The Zygarde Cell hangs out with Magearna but later be seen in Complete Forme Zygarde hovering above the world.
What will be Zygarde’s role in the Pokemon The Movie: Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna? Does it have something to do with the forthcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon? Let’s find out when it hits cinemas in Japan on July 16, 2016.
Meanwhile, a bidding war erupted between China’s Legendary Entertainment, Warner Bros., and Sony for property of the film rights for the Pokemon franchise. Legendary Entertainment, a division of Dalian Wanda Group from China is trying to shove out of the way Warner Bros., which already released in 1999 the animated Pokemon: The First Movie, in the on-going secret auction. Sony also expressed interest in the bidding.
A Hollywood Reporter source said that Legendary wins the bid which might cause a problem as Pokemon is owned by a Japanese company. Political tensions have been simmering between China and Japan which led to a three-year ban of Japanese films in China. Though it was already lifted recently, the strain between the two countries is still there. If the source can be trusted, Legendary will have a tough job ahead of them!
